Bond fires are fun for all ages and create memories that last a life time. I remember sitting around a camp fire at sixth grade camp singing with my girlfriends and giggling about the boys we liked. I remember going on hayrides down old back roads, listening to country music and arriving to a fire roasting marshmallows. When my best friend turned sixteen, her dad took a group of us on a hayride, stopped on a gravel road and told us the tractor was out of gas. We unloaded, started walking in the dark only to find out it was really a joke and the tractor wasn't out of gas.
On my husband's side of the family, bond fires are also a way to celebrate life. When my father-in-law lost his Dad, the family had a bond fire and honored his life and shared memories. This has become a tradition. When a life is taken it is then relived through stories around a crackling fire.
What are your family traditions? It doesn't have to always revolve around the holidays. It can be something as simple as eating dinner together or having a movie night. Life can become very busy and even stressful at times, so enjoy the life you have and spend time with those you love.
