Old Fashion Buttermilk Biscuits

Biscuits are a favorite for breakfast.  They're good for a sandwich with an egg and sausage or bacon, and can be topped with your favorite jam.

Recipe:
2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
4 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
5 tablespoons shortening
1 cup buttermilk

Sift dry ingredients.  Cut in shortening.  Add buttermilk all at once.  Knead for about a half minute. Roll onto floured surface.  Cut dough with biscuit cutter (or a round glass). Bake in hot oven, 450 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes.
